[CCCure CISSP] Study Plan to crack CISSP

LaurelM
I passed on 6/13. I also took the entire 6 hours. I thought the test was
grueling [make sure you take energy bars and water!], but mostly pretty
straightforward. It did have some tricky questions though; there were
several questions I had to read very carefully to figure out what was being
asked. Mark those and come back to them on your second pass. Time management
is critical, and using common sense is a good tip.

Here is a list of things I did:

The CCCure.org site has a lot of resources that I found very useful:
*I downloaded a couple of overviews - Michael Overton and Justin Gibson -
and read them over several times.

https://www.cccure.org/download-details-59.html&title=Overly_Updated.pdf.zip

https://www.cccure.org/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownloaddetails&l
id=24&title=CRAM%20Study%20guide%20on%20the%2010%20domains%20of%20the%20CBK
*I watched Clement's presentation at
https://www.cccure.org/flash/intro/player.html; it's excellent.
*I did at least a 60-question practice test from books or the CCCure site
every day for a couple months. Make sure you understand the answers to any
questions you missed and add notes about them to your cheat sheet.
*Do several 250-question exams so you get a feel for timing.
*I bought Clement's scenario questions; they were very helpful!

I also
*joined a study group in January that was an overview, and when that one was
finished, I joined one that was more in-depth
*made my own last-minute flash cards and study guide for things that I found
tricky - note: acronyms help! Here's one for types of cryptography:
DEER MRS H CARBIDS

Asymmetric: encrypt with 1 key, decrypt with other Key exchange,
Confidentiality, Nonrepudiation, Integrity
D - Diffie-Hellman
E - El Gamal: DH +nonrepudiation
E - ECC
R - RSA

Hash- one-way algorithm, no key
M - MD5
R - RIPEMD (160)
S - SHA (3)

H - Haval (v)

Symmetric: Encryption, one key
C - CAST
A - AES: 128k, 10r; 192k, 12 r; 256k, 14r
R - RC 4, 5, 6
B - BLOWFISH: 23-448k, 64bit block
I - IDEA : 128k, 64bit block
D - DES-64-bit block, 16r
S - SERPENT

Another resource: I watched a video at SANS by Eric Cole called "How to be
Successful at Passing the CISSP." [You have to have a free SANS account and
you might have to search for it.]
https://www.sans.org/webcasts/successful-passing-cissp-95594

I have a SafariBooksOnline account; for books I used
*Shon Harris AIO / test questions book
*Dummies' Guide to the CISSP
*Eric Conrad's books--I found his books the most useful because they're so
concise.

Good luck!
Kalmia

passing the exam!

I passed mine on 4th June and entirely agree with all your comments. I also
took nearly 6 hours and found it really tough, feeling right at the end of
the test that I had failed and was surprised by the 'pass' result. Also
agree about the content being a lot of BCP/DR but then in the real world,
this is part of the job!

Best wishes
Jaackal

Good day Negash,

There is no single resources that will allow you to pass the CISSP exam.
It has to be a mix of experience, studies, quizzes, reading, and all of the
above.

I would recommend you start by watching my flash presentation that I have
completely revamped and updated a few weeks ago.  It will coach you and
answer any questions they may have about becoming a CISSP.   It is
completely updated with the latest information about the CBK and the
examination process.   It is a must watch for any CISSP Student.  You can
find it at:

2.  I have also updated my list of TIPS and TRICKS on how to become a
CISSP.   You can find it at:

https://www.cccure.org/article1477.html

The resources mentioned at the link above are from my CCCure.Org web site.
.

3.  Last but not least, I have just produce a set of Scenario Based
questions that is very complete.  I am selling it on my shopping cart at:

https://www.cccure.com/cart/categories/CISSP-Scenario-Based-Questions/

*
*REBATE FOR THIS MAILING LIST MEMBERS

*
*I have created a rebate code good for the next few weeks for the list
members.  It is:  CISSPSTUDY

*
*Use the code at checkout time to get an instant 25% off.

*
*Best of luck in your studies
*
*
Best regards

Clement
